So last Saturday FLOC (our youth group) put on a spaghetti dinner with a baked goods auction and then a youth auction.
It went great! The baked goods and the kids sold really really well! Yes I said the kids sold… We auctioned off our youth to the people in the church. (No one was forced. It was on a volunteer basis.) But they have an 8 hour day to spend with whoever won them and they will be doing everything from fishing to hanging campaign signs and yard work. I even bid on one of the girls. It was so much fun! There was a bidding war for her. I wasn’t going to bid on her because she comes over pretty regularly and she’ll help with anything I ask anyway. But it was either that or an 8 hour day playing barbies and dress up with a little girl she didn’t even know and well the guy was being ‘smart’ so I had to outbid him! She was grateful and we are going to split up her day into a 2 and she’s gonna help me with the kids birthday parties which are just around the corner!

The theme is incorporating your carrier or cloth diapers into your Halloween costume. Since you can’t see his diaper in his costume I’m entering his Halloween outfit… Now help me pic out a photo for the contest!

The fire house holds a Halloween party every year and tonight was the night. I’ve spent a bunch of time finishing up the kids costumes today and when it came time to go Arianna was passed out in her Grandparents bed. I woke her up to get ready… Bad idea. She was so cranky. Whined about everything. She even whimpered every time I tried to put her eye shadow on and was just all around grumpy so we stayed home. I was not about to inflict that on any unsuspecting bystanders… Okay, okay… I didn’t want to deal with her mood in public.
I did happen to get a few shots before deciding to stay home though. After getting her undressed and her make up off I sent her to watch cartoons in Grandma and Papa’s room and she continued to cry. I laid the baby down who was none to happy also and they both continued to cry. I made myself a drink and sat down at the computer for some relief.
Does that make me a bad mom? I don’t think so. Sometimes kids just need to cry things out.
I’m going to bed early. We are all very very tired.

Okay so maybe I’m a little over protective… But I don’t let my daughter watch things like high school musical and Hannah Montana because at 6 years old I feel those shows are just too old for her. Then there are some shows I don’t let her watch because they annoy me. (I know I’m not the only mom there!) Some shows I’m not entirely sure why I don’t like them… Like sponge bob. Something about that show rubs me the wrong way so it is also not allowed in our house.
A couple days ago my daughter told me they sung a sponge bob song at school or maybe it was the cartoon… I don’t really remember. Then she is singing this song about monkeys teasing an alligator and the alligator eating them. Seriously? This is what they are learning? God can’t go to school but sponge bob and a monkey eating alligator can?
It really bothers me and I’m sure they’d think I was crazy if I brought it up to the principal or the teacher or anyone so all you lovelies in blogland get to hear about it instead.
Thank you.
